Feel Abruzzo, live the authentic Italian style
The Trabocchi are unique wooden constructions anchored to the rocks, found exclusively along the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. Defined as a potential World Heritage Site by UNESCO, these ancient fishing machines allowed local fishermen to catch fish without needing to venture out to sea by boat.
Today, some Trabocchi maintain their historical structure, while others have been charmingly converted into small, unique restaurants built right over the water, offering an unforgettable dining experience.
The Trabocchi Coast, named after these spectacular fishing systems, is situated halfway down Italy's eastern coast, approximately 250 km from Rome. This area remains beautifully untouched by mass tourism.
The coastline itself offers a wonderful variety, with idyllic sandy beaches giving way to pebbled shores and dramatic cliffs.
Moving inland, the Abruzzo region is proudly known as the "Green Region" due to its three national parks. This natural reserve protects species such as the brown bear and the grey fox.
Mountains and Hills: Soft rolling hills ascend towards the two majestic mountain ranges: Gran Sasso and Maiella.
Seasonal Beauty: These mountains are the source of multiple rivers and spectacular waterfalls, which are best seen during the spring thaw.
Winter Sports: In the winter, the Gran Sasso and Maiella host various ski sports, giving locals the opportunity to share the regional pride with winter sports enthusiasts.
The Abruzzo is truly a jewel of uncontaminated nature, offering a perfect blend of sea, hills, and mountains.
Tot ziens in Abruzzo!
Vi aspetto in Abruzzo!!!
